AWO Boater Safety Resources
Brought to you by The American Waterways Operators (AWO) in partnership with Harbor Safety Committees and recreational boating safety advocates, these resources provide valuable guidance to help recreational and commercial boaters stay safe on the water. Materials include tips for navigating alongside tugs, towboats, and barges, avoiding busy cargo docks and moored vessels, vessel signals and lighting, and understanding the risks of multi-use waterways and narrow channels while boating.
In addition to nationally focused safety information, Harbor Safety Committees provide regionally focused materials that cover essential boating rules and offer practical safety guidance for specific waterways, ports, and harbors.
